“Time is free, but it’s priceless.” ~ Harvey MacKay

“Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.”  ~ Harvey MacKay

MacKay’s wise words sum up the importance of time.   At the Shelby County Museum & Archives, the passage of time is reflected in a carefully curated collection of artifacts.  Housed within the walls of the Old Courthouse in Columbiana, you can see items dating as far back as the Indian Era.  Each object represents a time in the great history of Shelby County.  Just like time, many of the items you will see are priceless.

As we approach the 200th birthday of this great county, I would like to invite you to come and see the wonderful collections at the Shelby County Museum & Archives.

We are open Tuesday through Friday and on the second Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thanks to the Shelby County Camera Club for the lovely image of the silver pocket watch and bible, both of which are part of the museum’s collection.
